What should be the value of self-inductance of an inductor that should be connected to 220 V 50 Hz supply, so that a maximum current of 0.9 A flows through it?

Given, $$|e| = 220\,V,di = 0.9\,A,
u  = 50\,Hz$$
As, $$
u  = {1 \over t} \Rightarrow t = {1 \over 
u } = {1 \over {50}}$$
Since, $$|e| = L{{di} \over {dt}} \Rightarrow 220 = L 	imes {{0.9} \over {1/50}}$$
$$ \Rightarrow L = {{220} \over {0.9 	imes 50}} = 4.88H \simeq 5H$$
